Bikram Yoga

Why The Heat?

We heat the room to aid primarily in the release of harmful toxins and chemicals trapped within your body. The heat allows you to stretch more safely and deeply by warming the muscles. By working to deeper levels within the body, you are able to increase the ability of your body to detoxify. When practicing yoga, you are not only working the muscles and structure of the body, you are stretching and compressing deep within the organs and glands. As this occurs you body will begin to release this trapped energy and poisons. The heat will encourage vasodilation of the arteries and veins to increase blood flow help to clear the circulatory system by thinning the blood. With calm deep breathing you will remove toxins from the respiratory, cardiovascular and nervous system. Your body will naturally begin to sweat, allowing your body to cool and keeping your core temperature stable while at the same time detoxifying through the skin.
